What standard of scuba diver do I need to be for the PADI divemaster course?
You can take this course even if you have never been diving before. The 13 Week program takes you from the very first step in PADI scuba diving all the way to the first professionally qualified level in the dive industry, the PADI Divemaster level.
Am I guaranteed a qualification?
No – But but PADI training is performance based so there is no fixed event like a constrained exam to pass each training section. So to achieve the required levels at you have 13 weeks of the best training there is.
Where can I work with a PADI Divemaster qualification?
You can work anywhere worldwide as PADI Divemaster, and as a PADI PRO you will have access to the PRO’s area on the PADI scuba diving website that has up to the minute job listings for the worldwide dive industry and many other resources for your professional development.
What are my job prospects after the course?
If you successfully pass the PADI Divemaster course the whole world of PADI Scuba DIving is open to you and you are legally and professionally qualified to work anywhere worldwide and with the support of the PADI Pros website and us at GSD we can guide you with the right contacts to find the Right work in the right location.
How do I book a place on the dive and/or skiing course?
To book on any of the GSD GAP Courses please read the terms and conditions, then complete all fields in the application form(s) and the PADI Medical form (Very Important) send a signed copy back to us. Each booking requires a £450 deposit that you can pay by credit card, on the phone, by cheque, or BACS. The Deposit is neither refundable nor transferable. Full details can be found in our PDF brochure or on the bookings page.
How far in advance do I need to book?
GSD course places are LIMITED and operate on a first-come-first-serve basis and places are limited to 10 per course. We advise you to book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
What insurance will I need?
You will need personal travel insurance covering worldwide diving travel, and if you are on the ski course you will need personal winter travel insurance covering the EU and off piste skiing.
A policy that covers both of these areas is available to our students through BASI. and also DAN (Divers Alert Network) Also there are many GAP year travel insurance schemes available that cover all of your needs.

Do I need a visa?

The Cayman Islands are British Overseas Territory - British nationals do not need a tourist visa to visit the Cayman Islands.  If you are not a British national, you may need a visa.  For more information, you should contact the Identity and Passport Service at the Home Office on 020 7901 2334 from 1000 to 1600 GMT (Mon-Fri)

  If you’re a citizen from outside the EU, please check with your local embassy for specific visa requirements.
Do I need my own diving equipment?
Students must own their own mask, fins and snorkel, which can be purchased in resort from Go Pro Cayman for those who will need them. We do also recommend that you have your own wetsuits; a 3mm shortie will work well.
Students that don’t own regulators, BCD’s and computers they will be made available included as part of the course, in resort from Go Pro Cayman for the entire program. If you wish to purchase equipment Go Pro Cayman has special packages available to students.
