Ski Instructor Training

The Ski Instructor Training

Technical Training

The technical ski instructor training is an on-going phase through out the entire course and will push your ability and understanding within the technical elements of skiing and enable you to apply them in many different areas on the mountain. The goal is to transform your skiing into an all-mountain performer.

BASI Level 1 Award (includes the official BASI Manuals)

Delivered by a BASI Trainer this is the grass roots level of ski instructor training, the starting block from which to develop and shape your ability and career. These 5 days will continually train and assess your competency of specific technical ability and knowledge and understanding of the teaching progression (The Central Theme). Each day will consist of on hill work and evening seminar, during the middle of the week you will be given the opportunity to impress the group and prepare a lesson to deliver.

Teaching Training

The teaching training will develop your understanding further and focus on session planning, skills & drills for teaching, and your abilty to present the information to a learner.

Shadowing

During this time you will be given the opportunity in resort to learn from other highly qualified and experienced instructors directly in the workplace. You will be observing lessons of various learner abilities to identify the areas you will have been working on in the teaching training.
*each student must have successfully completed the BASI Level 1 Award along with a further 35 hours+ of Ski School Shadowing Experience “The BASS Megeve Team are there to help you achieve all these GOALS!”

Off Piste / Backcountry Training

Off piste mountain safety skills are about learning the Hazards and signs in the mountains which help us to play safe and find that perfect snow when skiing off piste and in the backcountry. As well as our training team you will have the tuition from a UIAGM Mountain Guide on this subject too, you really do have the best training there is. You will learn about Avalanche danger, reading the forecast & how the weather changes snow conditions, the use of transceivers and equipment that is carried when travelling off piste. “During my ski instructor training, learning to read and respect the mountains and how capable they are in affecting the day and what we can do to be safe and enjoy being in them is a real awakening!”

Other Disciplines

(Nordic, Snowboard, Telemark, Snowshoe & Ski Touring). Each day will be delivered by an expert in that discipline. The Team we have put together is spectacular, embrace the challenge to get the whole picture of Snowsports! We are sure that you know what snowboarding looks like, but to see examples of what telemarking and touring are like have a look at some of the footage below.
