Divemaster Training
During the 13 weeks of PADI courses the training will be delivered by a 5 star PADI Instructors Development Centre. The specialty of these centres is dealing with long term students that are looking at achieving a professional level of qualification; in our case the centre has also certified over 1000 students to dive at instructor’s level. The Centre on Grand Cayman boasts state of the art training facilities; on site secure equipment storage, accommodations, three swimming pools, white sandy beaches, bars, restaurants, deli and a laundry facility, all of which are on site.
PADI Courses are performance based so there is no fixed time for you to achieve the level at each stage (within the 13 weeks) so you can repeat sections as you need to.
Lets go through the stages in the overall course:
The PADI Openwater Course
The PADI Open Water Diver certification (O/W) is the first PADI course in the series that students will be taking. It is a full entry level certification on its own and is earnt by successfully completing the entire Open Water Diver course consisting of 3 main phases;
Knowledge Development to understand basic principles of scuba diving
Confined Water Training Dives x 5 to learn basic scuba skills
Open Water Training Dives x 4 to review your skills and explore!
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course helps to increase confidence and build further scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This course builds on what you’ve learned in the open water course and develops new capabilities by introducing you to core specialist areas. This course segment takes place over 5 training dives, each of which contain a knowledge development session and review followed by the training dive to put these concepts in place. You’ll be exposed to 2 “core” dives being:
A Navigation Dive
A Deep Dive (30 Meters)
The PADI Rescue Diver Course
During the previous PADI course segments you focused primarily on yourself and mastered knowledge and skills for taking care of yourself underwater and on the surface. The PADI Advanced Open Water course broadened your focus to include the environment in a variety of situations. Now In the Rescue Diver course you will enter the next stage in which your focus broadens even further to include other divers and people around you.
The PADI Rescue Diver program prepares you to help prevent, and if necessary, manage dive emergencies, minor and major, with a variety of techniques. Your skills and confidence as a diver will be enhanced. Most certified Rescue Divers look back on their rescue training as one of the most challenging – sometimes demanding – and therefore most rewarding programs. The subject is serious but the training is fun.
The PADI Rescue Diver course is divided into knowledge development and open water training. The knowledge development portions focus on the principles and information you need for preventing and handling dive emergencies, with topics including self rescue, diver stress, diving first aid, emergency management, exit and rescue plans and assistance procedures for both conscious and unconscious victims on the surface and underwater. There will be classroom sessions to cover all the sections of knowledge development during this PADI course.
The PADI DIVEMASTER Program
During the PADI Divemaster program, you'll develop your knowledge of dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. This is an extensive PADI course and you'll complete and log your water skills, stamina exercises, skill demonstrations, and training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems as well as help others improve their scuba. You put this knowledge into action through a structured internship in which you will assist on a number of real courses, exactly like the ones you have just come through and log the progress on the way.
